Araneta Companies was Hit by Major Cybersecurity Breach

There was a recent cybersecurity breach that has happened to three well-known companies of Araneta Group that has sparked the attention of the public with concern, which led people to evaluate the importance of data protection and online security in today's digital landscape. The company confirmed that it is currently investigating the breach, which was discovered last Friday, November 28, and has affected Araneta Center Inc., Ticketnet Inc., and PPI (Dairy Queen) Holdings Inc.

According to the Araneta Group, they are taking the situation very seriously and have already tapped international cybersecurity experts to conduct a thorough assessment and determine the full scope of the problem. The Araneta Group assured the public that  they are working hand in hand with the  National Privacy Commission (NPC) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to address this past incident with full transparency to the people. 2012 Data Privacy Act (RA 10173) states that organizations are required to report a personal data breach to the NPC within 72 hours of discovery of a cyber attack, in which Araneta Group was able to comply.

They addressed the public via FAQ that their parking system and promo raffle redemption process were are affected, but everything else is running normally within the mall. Ticketnet.com.ph and the Etix platform assures that their operations are fully secured and running normally. Dairy Queen Philippines stated that their website was affected, but costumers can still order via Grabfood, Foodpanda, and Pickaroo.

An official statement was released by the group where they stated the importance of protecting their customers data and it is one of their main priorities. They said that they are already implementing additional layers of security and safeguards to bolster the safety on their digital channels and to prevent the same incident from happening again. They are also committed in handling the situation with full diligence and transparency to ensure the public that they are kept updated as the investigations continues.
